5 Weeks of Delicious Yet Simple Meals: 25 Meals that Everyone Enjoys
5 weeks of simple delicious, planned meals with 2 leftover nights a week!
Coming up with 25 delicious yet simple meals can sound stressful. Trying to decide what you’re going to have for dinner can sometimes be a pain. I know when it comes to our family of 6 it’s hard to please everyone. When you find yourself having the same thing every week or ordering takeout, it gets expensive and sometimes boring. Maybe you’re at the grocery store and you find a good sale on a pack of pork chops or a BOGO deal on chicken thighs, so you grab it. Only to find it still in your freezer 3 months down the road because you forgot about it, or you didn’t feel like cooking.
Do I have everything though?
You plan a meal for the next day but when tomorrow comes and you go to get everything, you realize you don’t have some of the ingredients. In return, you end up ordering pizza or running through the drive through. Does that sound familiar? It’s so easy any more with Door Dash, Grub Hub and all the other delivery services that are at your fingertips.
How about when you make a trip to the grocery store. You’re going down all the isles, grabbing different things you think would make a great meal that week. You go to checkout and before you know it you spent $300 on groceries for the week. As the week goes on, you’re realizing you still don’t have all the things you need and making random trips to the store. While you’re there once again there’s an amazing deal on a chuck roast that you can’t let go. I bet though you’re going to find it in your freezer months from now.
I know it was a cycle I was always on. Grocery store trip after trip only to not know what to make or have what I needed.
Something had to change…
I was tired of wasting money not only at the grocery store but ordering out. I saw a post on Pinterest one day about monthly meal planning, so I thought I’d give it a shot. Over a year later I’m still implementing it into our life. It’s near the end of our 5-week menu, that means it’s time to start a new one.
Coming up with 25 meals is difficult sometimes. Trying to find meals that everyone likes or will at least eat. After a year of doing this, we still have our repeat meals, Meatloaf, spaghetti, breakfast, hamburgers and hotdogs. We add in some new recipes that we come across. A lot of what I make is simple. Simple ingredients and not too much time to prepare.
25 different meals, with 2 nights of leftovers a week gives me 5 weeks of a planned-out menu. 5 weeks I don’t have to worry about what we’re going to eat. 25 meals I’ll shop for in the beginning and get everything I can so it’s there when I need it. Now, you won’t want to buy things like bread, lettuce, fresh veggies or anything that will go bad before you need it. So, when your write your shopping list, make a separate list for things you’ll need at a later time.
Here is my list of 25 meals we planned out for the next 5 weeks.
- BLTs
- Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and corn
- Spagetti
- Hamburgers/Hotdogs, broccoli salad and chips
- Sausage and Shrimp Fettuccini Alfredo and broccoli
- Chicken Enchiladas
- Chicken and Waffles with mashed potatoes
- Lunch Meat Sandwiches and chips
- Potatoe Soup
- Meatball Subs and fries
- Breakfast
- Vegetable Soup
- Golash with sausage
- Porkchops, potatoes and veggie
- Chicken Thighs with Buttered Noodles and veggie
- Salads

- Country Fried Steak, Sweet Potatos, Corn
- French Toast and Eggs
- Baked Ziti with Sausage
- Chicken Parm Rollups with Butter Noodles and broccoli

Time to make your shopping list..
Go through and see what all you would need for each meal. Check your pantry or cupboards to see what you have already. Buy in bulk what you can or what makes sense. I know it’s a lot of chicken and Hamburg so buy in bulk and freeze it.
Write your menu down!!
Get a Calander or planner and write them all down so you know exactly what you’re having each night. We have a white board magnetic calendar that is on our fridge, all we have to do is look at it and we’re good to go. Try to put things together like meatball subs and spaghetti, or salads and lunch meat sandwich’s so you can use them together. If you aren’t planning, your meals for each night in advance, you’ll end up with a freezer full of food and pantry stuffed with things that won’t get used. So, plan it out!
It may seem like a lot to do all at once but knowing you’ll have everything you need for the next few weeks while be a nice feeling and one less thing to worry about.
