What’s For Dinner: A Month of Planned Simple Meals
Never hear the words “what’s for dinner” again!
Spring is here and that means Spring sports are in action. The thought of what’s for dinner tonight is on your mind daily.
What to have, when are we going to eat, do I need to prepare anything.
I’ve been monthly meal planning for over a year now and not only has it saved us money, but it’s also saved us time and trying to figure out what to make. It’s also saved us unnecessary grocery store trips and ordering take out.
It’s that time again. It’s time to come up with 25 meals, plan, schedule and do the grocery shopping. Going through the pantry and fridge to see what we have and what we need.
If you have kids in sports, you know your weeks get filled up pretty quickly. Picking up kids from practices, running to the next one, games throughout the week and tournaments on the weekends. It gets busy! Who likes to think about what’s for dinner between all that.
I try to plan game nights with leftovers or something simple like spaghetti, grilled cheese and tomato, or lunch meat sandwiches. I’ll try to throw a crockpot meal in there occasional but mostly stick to leftovers if possible. Saving us time and preventing throwing food away.
Keep it simple.
I’m not one to make a lot of complicated meals. I like to keep it simple, quick and delicious.
I make a lot of chicken; hamburger meals and we eat a lot of pasta and potatoes.
Dinners like, goolash, chicken, rice and veggies, homemade hamburger helper, nachos are always on my menu. I try to make things as kid friendly as possible but it’s hard to please everyone every night.
When I plan, I ask my older two what’s something they want, what my fiancé wants, and then I try to add in some new things I find on Pinterest. I also have a very picky 6-year-old so chicken nuggets and French fries are always a go-to when I need to throw something in there.
